Welcome to your Cisco U. learning experience!
Cisco U. aims to honor your unique goals and needs, as well as those of the whole learning community. This tutorial covers two ways that Cisco U. does that: the “For You” page and Learning Paths.
The For You page is where your journey begins, with personalized content recommendations based on your topic areas of interest, skill level, and certification plans. In Cisco U., For You is your de facto home page.
On the upper-left side of the page, notice a green card that mentions telling Cisco U. about your interests through a survey. In this interest survey, you’ll see a series of simple questions that help the recommendation engine surface content that’s relevant to you. If you’re not sure how to answer any of the questions on this survey, you can always skip them or close the survey entirely. If you have already taken this survey, you don’t need to take it again, but you can retake it at any time if your interests or goals for Cisco U. change.
The For You page shows the types of content available on Cisco U. Different people consume content in different ways, so Cisco U. brings all those different content types under one roof.
Starting from the bottom of the For You page and working upward, you’ll see the variety of ways that Cisco U. helps you learn:
Bookmark any content that interests you by clicking the bookmark icon in the upper corner of the content tile, and it will be added to your list. Your list contains all your bookmarked content. For You displays a carousel view of your list at the top of the page, with the content you accessed most recently showing first so that you can jump right back in.
The first content type carousel on the For You page is Learning Paths. Cisco U. includes learning content and methods that work for a variety of needs and preferences, but it turns out that most learners prefer Learning Paths.
Basically, a Learning Path is a modularized learning experience for solution, technology, and role-related needs.. Each Learning Path is made up of several tracks, and each track contains a series of courses. Some Learning Paths have pre- and post-assessments as part of each track. Let’s walk through how to use them.
To view a Learning Path:
As you navigate a Learning Path, you’ll see a table of contents on the right side, with information on the estimated amount of time needed to complete each track. You may also see pre-track assessments.
Pre-track assessments are diagnostic knowledge checks to assess if you already have a good comprehension of the learning objectives of that track. If you take the pre-assessment and pass, that portion of your Learning Path will be marked as “proficient” content, and you can either skip it or complete it to deepen your understanding.
As you look at the table of contents, you can see the progress you have made next to each track and course. Your progress is always saved, so feel free to jump in and out of your learning as your plans permit. Cisco U. is here to make your learning fit your life. You can learn at your own pace, as time permits.
Cisco U. is tech learning, shaped to you.
